Job Description
The PCJ Substance Abuse Counselor conducts substance use assessments and ongoing substance abuse counseling with individuals incarcerated at Penobscot County Jail, in collaboration with Penobscot County Jail’s medical and Medication Assisted Treatment providers.
The PCJ Substance Abuse Counselor works collaboratively with corrections staff and other contracted providers to ensure inmates’ treatment needs are evaluated and addressed effectively.
Service is provided to adults of all ages who are being screened for or are receiving Medication Assisted Treatment during incarceration.
Strong knowledge of medications and medical terminology, medication assisted treatment for SUD, mental health issues, and crisis intervention is preferred.
Must be able to earn certification in CPR and First Aid within the first six months of employment.
